Bob Brown Artist
Bob Brown was until his retirement in 2007 a senior
lecturer in Art and Design with James Watt College of Further and Higher
Education in Greenock.
A veteran of the International Design circuit, he
brought much needed experience of running an Interior Design and
Architecture Practice into education in1991 and helped pioneer computer
aided design programmes in the F.E. and H.E. sectors.
This in parallel with assisting in establishing
drawing and painting courses within the centre for Lifelong Learning at
the University of Strathclyde in Glasgow, where he continues to lecture
part time.
Bob moved to Argyll in 1996 inspired by the
wilderness, colour and unique quality of light to be found there.
Painting for pleasure, which had till then always taken a back seat in
his career came very naturally to the fore in this environment. This is
dramatically evident in his work.
With no specific targeted style, Bob’s paintings
fall into a category which can truly be termed Scottish Eclectic.
